CROSSWAYS AREA ENVIRONMENTAL ASSOCIATION (CAEA)
Current Status

CAEA is a voluntary association which was set up in 1999 to distribute landfill tax credits generated by Viridor Waste Management Ltd at the Warmwell landfill site near Crossways, Dorset.

In partnership with SWEET-UK, CAEA has recommended over 90 projects for funding by Viridor Credits, the distributive environmental body for VWM Ltd. Since 1996 Viridor Credits has donated over £40million of Landfill Tax Credits to such schemes.

CAEA is no longer able to accept applications as the Crossways landfill site has now closed. Project applicants within 10 miles of Wareham, Dorset, should apply directly to Viridor Credits.

Wrapping-Up

“CAEA Celebrates 8 years of funding local projects”

Almost  £900,000 has been disbursed to community projects by Crossways Area Environmental Association since its inception in 1999. Grants through the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme have supported sports pitches, village halls, churches, bridleways and playgrounds to the benefit of thousands of people.

CAEA Chair, David Crowhurst, who has worked on the CAEA committee since the Association was formed said,” I have found the experience interesting and rewarding. I know from speaking with grant recipients how much they have valued our input."

Following closure of the landfill site, Unit Manager Rob Hawkins said: “I’d like to thank the local community in Crossways and Warmwell for their interest, involvement and pragmatic approach to our operations.  Through the funding of many local projects, the service we’ve provided, and the heathland restoration scheme, we can be proud that we’ve put something back into the area for the benefit of generations to come.”
