About PEC:
Pilsworth Environmental Company was established in 1997 to distribute grants from the Pilsworth Landfill site.
It is a joint venture with Viridor Waste Management Ltd and Bury MBC, and works with local authorities and community organisations to deliver environmental and community benefits through giving grants to a wide range of projects.
Projects within a ten-mile radius of the landfill site may apply for grants that meet the requirements for eligibility.
Funding to Pilsworth Environmental Company comes from Viridor Credits, the EB established by Viridor to distribute their landfill tax credits.
Pilsworth Environmental Company is about to celebrate 10 years supporting the local environment of Bury & the surrounding area.
PEC’s relationship with SWEET-UK
PEC is a limited company and a registered environmental body. Board meetings and funding decisions are carried out quarterly in Bury. Secretarial, financial and other day-to-day administrative tasks are carried out by SWEET-UK in Bristol.

How do I go about applying to PEC for funds?
To submit an application for LCF funds from PEC, the PEC Application Form must be filled in and sent to us.
- Category D and E projects must also submit the PEC Access Statement indicating how the public will be able to make use of the site/amenity.
- Category DA projects do not have to be publicly accessible, but must be aware of the criteria for eligibility contained here
- In addition to the forms, supplementary information may be necessary for the board to make an informed decision.
- This can include planning permission, land designation, listed building status and ownership. A specification of the additional information required can be obtained here
