South Gloucestershire Environmental Body (SGEB) was established in 1998 to distribute grants from the Harnhill Landfill site, which closed in 2003. SGEB is currently funded by The Hills Group Limited.

SGEB is a joint venture with South Gloucestershire Council; the Board of Directors consists of local councillors and independent volunteers from across the district.  Meetings are quarterly and directors/trustees are assigned to visit and monitor projects receiving grants. SGEB allocates modest funding to community groups wishing to make environmental improvements to public amenities, biodiversity, conservation or heritage projects.

In order to be eligible to apply to SGEB, projects must be situated within the county.
